The National Toll Free AIDS Helpline was initiated by the National Department of Health in 1991.   The objective of the line is to provide anonymous, confidential, accessible information, counselling and referral telephone services in all eleven official languages in South Africa.  The line is managed by LifeLine South Africa.  It aims to provide emotional support to these infected or affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
